Who Might Need an X-Ray?
X-Rays can help with the diagnosis of a wide range of conditions including:
- Broken and fractured bones
- Chest problems
Private X-Ray Without Referral
At The New Foscote Hospital, patients can self-refer to any of our consultants, who can then refer you for an X-Ray.
That means that you don’t need a referral from your normal doctor or GP for your X-Ray.
Private X-Ray Cost
A private X-Ray at The New Foscote Hospital can cost as little as £123. You will also need to have a consultation with one of our consultants in order to be referred for an X-Ray.
You can self-refer for a consultation, which typically cost between £150 and £250, and are available to both self-pay and insured patients.

What to Expect On The Day
An X-Ray is an outpatient procedure, meaning that you can simply come to the hospital for the procedure, and leave again once it’s done.

Preparing For Your X-Ray
Unless advised otherwise by your doctor, on the day of your X-Ray you can eat, drink and take any medication as you normally would. If you think you may be pregnant, please inform your doctor as soon as possible, as X-Rays are not recommended during pregnancy.
Before your X-Ray you will be asked to fill out a short questionnaire before your procedure.

During Your X-Ray
Your X-Ray procedure will be slightly different depending on what part of your body is being scanned. For chest X-Rays you will be asked to lie down, for X-Rays of smaller body parts, such as your hand or foot, you may be asked to position yourself in different ways so the X-Ray can look from different angles.
All you need to do is stay still while the radiographer takes the X-Ray, which lasts less than a second. Your radiography team will do this from behind a screen.

After Your X-Ray
Once your X-Ray is complete, you’ll be able to go home, and our expert radiologists will examine the results, discuss them with your consultant, and be in touch quickly with your diagnosis and next steps.
